I moved to the UK in October – I planned to arrive in September but gathering all the necessary visa documents took longer than expected. I have been collaborating with my mentor, dr. Ozan Aksoy, since then. We are developing two different studies – one that I proposed in my ACEF project (experimental study) and one that evolved based on our mutual interests (computational social science). We have weekly meetings where I report on my progress, and I am scheduled to present the preliminary results of my work at the UCL’s PhD seminar series in March. Since the pandemic is still very much alive, I haven’t had that many chances to meet other researchers. However, the head of the department promised to put me in touch with a newly formed group of researchers at UCL that share my interests. I also recently received the offer to teach a workshop at the University of Manchester, which I accepted.
